Correspondence 1 indicates that Veronica americana was published by George Bentham (Benth. in Authors of Plant Names) in A. DeCandolle, Prodromus Systematis Naturalis Regni Vegetabilis 10: 468 (1846), and that Bentham ascribed the name to "Schweinitz! mss." [Schwein. in Authors of Plant Names] but provided his own description..[Therefore, author citation corrected to Veronica americana Schwein. ex Benth., from Veronica americana (Raf.) Benth. previously in this Index, 12 Dec 2007.]
