Correspondence 1 indicates that Penstemon spectabilis was published in Pacif. Railr. Rep. 4: 119 (1856), and that the treatment of Scrophulariaceae therein was written by A. Gray, who ascribed the name Penstemon spectabilis to "Thurber in A. B. Gray's Rep. ined." but supplied his own description. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Penstemon spectabilis Thurb. ex A. Gray, from Penstemon spectabilis Thurb. previously in this Index, 12 Dec 2007.]
