Lepidium campestre (L.) W. T. Aiton

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 30 Jan 2009 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates: that Lepidium campestre was published by William Townsend Aiton (W.T. Aiton in Authors of Plant Names) in Hortus Kewensis, ed. 2 4:88 (1812); that Vol. 5 of the Postscript of this work states that Robert Brown's contributions to the latter volumes are indicated by "Brown mss."; that such indication associated with a name or a genus heading is the only way one can be certain that Brown was the author of a name or names; that since there is no such attribution for Lepidium, the author of the work [W. T. Aiton] must be given credit for new Lepidium names; and that the basionym is Thlaspi campestre L. (Species Plantarum 2: 646-647. 1753). [Therefore, author citation corrected to Lepidium campestre (L.) W. T. Aiton, from Lepidium campestre (L.) R. Br. previously in this Index, 4 Feb 2009.]
