Correspondence 1 indicates that Deschampsia cespitosa was published by Palisot de Beauvois (P. Beauv. in Authors of Plant Names) in Essai d'une Nouvelle Agrostographie 91, 149, 160, pl. 18, f. 3 (1812), based on Aira cespitosa L. (Species Plantarum 1: 64-65. 1753), and that Linnaeus spelled the epithet cespitosa which, according to Stearn's Botanical Latin, is a valid alternate spelling of caespitosa. [Therefore, according to ICBN 2000 (Art. 60.1), original spelling of epithet, "cespitosa" to be retained.]
