Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)

Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 11 Apr 2014 e-mail from Margriet Wetherwax, including forwarded e-mail from Nat Wooding see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that, according to Nat Wooding, who has been transcribing field notes taken by Joseph G Grinnell on a 1925 collecting trip in the San Martir Mountains of Baja, occasional reference is made to the presence of "buckeye", and that specimens documenting the fact may be present in the MVZ at UC Berkeley. [According to Ira L. Wiggins, 1980, Flora of Baja California, Aesculus parryi A. Gray, also known as "buckeye", is endemic to, as well as the only member of the genus in, Baja CA.]
