Initial Editorial Comments according to Source b, status uncertain, collections not recent, extent of naturalization unknown, yet conditions of cited occurrences (e.g., "Naturalized locally along San Antonio Creek at Royal Oaks Dairy and for some distance downstream") evidently qualify for inclusion in the flora according to criteria employed by Jepson Flora Project (25 Feb 2003)
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Michael Nee see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Petunia violacea Lindl. is not to be treated, with no specific reasons indicated. [Despite an indication under Source b of naturalization, the overall conclusion there is that the extent of true naturalization not known. Nevertheless, there are several much more recent records in CCH that suggest the plants in fact are naturalized in CA, so that a Current Status of tentative 2 seems most appropriate at this time, with a note in the treatment indicating that the plants might be naturalized in CA.]
