Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 [for Prunus angustifolia Marshall] 9 Nov 2005 e-mail from Margriet Wetherwax see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that, according to a pers. comm. from Dieter Wilken, The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] author, the population on which the record of Prunus angustifolia Marshall from the Santa Barbara region [see Kartesz & Meacham citation under Prunus angustifolia Marshall] was based (Santa Maria, CA, along Hwy 101 at Clark Ave.) was completely extirpated as of 4 Nov 2005. [Prunus angustifolia Marshall var. varians Wight & Hedrick, not Prunus angustifolia Marshall var. angustifolia, was included by Best et al. (Kartesz & Meacham citation) in A Flora of Sonoma County, and indicated therein to be a rare escape from cultivation, collected from Pitkin Marsh in 1952 by Rubtzoff.]
Correspondence 2 4 Jan 2007 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 1 indicates that the White in the author citation under Editorial Comments 1 is W. White.
Correspondence 3 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Joseph R. Rohrer see Comment 3
Editorial Comments 3 Correspondence 3 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Prunus angustifolia Marshall is not to be included, evidently due to extirpation, as discussed under Correspondence 2.
