Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1
$ 8 Feb 2002, from Margriet Wetherwax see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1
Correspondence 1 indicates that all UC/JEPS specimens of Lyrocarpa coulteri are from San Diego Co. or Borrego Palm Canyon, +/- w Riverside Co. so that none appears to be from "sw AZ and adjacent CA", as cited for Lyrocarpa coulteri var. coulteri by Rollins, The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] author, in The Cruciferae of Continental North America, Reed C. Rollins. [Furthermore, since Rollins annotated UC/JEPS specimens as either Lyrocarpa coulteri or Lyrocarpa coulteri var. palmeri, leaving unanswered the question of Lyrocarpa coulteri var. coulteri, it seems best to adjust Summary and Current Status accordingly, leaving the latter as tentative pending consideration by whomever the Jepson Flora Project author turns out to be.]

Correspondence 2
9 Jul 2002 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2
Correspondence 2 indicates that, in responses to inquiries made, representative from RSA/POM, CAS, SDSU, SD, and SBBG all report having no specimens identified as Lyrocarpa coulteri var. coulteri. [It therefore seems appropriate to downgrade Summary and Current Status accordingly.]

Correspondence 3
Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] see Comment 3
Editorial Comments 3
Correspondence 3 indicates, without explanation, that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Lyrocarpa coulteri Hook. & Harv. var. coulteri is to be treated as a synonym of Lyrocarpa coulteri Hook. & Harv., which is to be treated as native to CA.
