Jepson Flora Project: Jepson Interchange for California Floristics
Lupinus sellulus Kellogg var. medius (Detling) Cox
FABACEAE
Initial Editorial Analysis 10 Mar 2010
Source of Report for California 1951 American Midland Naturalist, as cited in Kartesz & Meacham
Initial Editorial Comments if added, would probably be as Lupinus lepidus var. medius (see comments under that name)
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Teresa Sholars see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 does not address Lupinus sellulus Kellogg var. medius (Detling) Cox, or the synonymous Lupinus lepidus Douglas ex Lindl. var. medius (Detling) C. L. Hitchc., suggesting at least that it is not to be regarded as the accepted name for a taxon that is recognized and treated as native to CA. [Lupinus excubitus M. E. Jones var. medius (Jeps.) Munz, evidently a different taxon, is to be recognized and treated as native to California in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2]; no combination including the epithet medius with an author citation of Detling is apparent in Munz, Munz Supplement, or The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1], so that a Current Status of unresolved seems most appropriate at present.]
