Draba paysonii J. F. Macbr. var. treleasei (O. E. Schulz) C. L. Hitchc.

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis 30 Mar 2011
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments if named after William Trelease, or some other male Trelease, epithet is correct as cited; if named after a male Treleas (an unlikely spelling), epithet would be spelled "treleasii"
Variant Spelling Draba paysonii var. treleasii
Editorial Recommendation spelling of epithet to be checked [resolved]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 9 Jan 2009 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates: that both "treleasei" and "treleasii" have been used a number of times, in various sources and references, for this plant; that none of these gives any suggestion as to whom is being honored; that Greenhouse has found nobody in a botanical context by the name of Treleas; that William Trelease, therefore, is the likely honoree, yielding "treleasei" as the most likely spelling of the epithet in Draba paysonii var. treleasei (O. E. Schulz) C. L. Hitchc. (A Revision of the Drabas of Western North America 65. 1941). Correspondence 1 also indicates that this is the spelling used in TROPICOS and three of the four International Plant Names Index entries under Draba. [Therefore, spelling of epithet retained in this Index, 9 Jan 2009.]
