Stylocline gnaphaloides Nutt.

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments spelling of epithet corrected from "gnaphaloides" in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] (but see Editorial Comments 1)
Variant Spelling Stylocline gnaphalioides
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 04 Sep 2003 e-mail from Richard Moe see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that the spelling "gnaphaloides" is specifically [and purposefully] used as a correction for "gnaphalioides" in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] [therefore, since there is no evidence to the contrary, the spelling of the epithet corrected to "gnaphaloides", from "gnaphalioides" previously in this Index, 5 Sep 2003]
Correspondence 2 11 Sep 2003 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that Dick Moe, in a 5 Sep 2003 e-mail, stated "Nuttall used gnaphaloides in the protologue, and John Strother doesn't think that usage should be contravened.", and that ICBN 2000 (St. Louis Code) Art. 60 mandates retention of the original spelling except for special cases, none of which applies here. [Therefore, the correct spelling is "gnaphaloides", as originally in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1], and as corrected in this Index as a result of Correspondence 1]
