Correspondence 1 indicates that Comarostaphylis diversifolia subsp. planifolia was published by Gary Wallace (G.D. Wallace in Authors of Plant Names) in R.F. Thorne, New Subspecific Combinations for Southern California Plants, Aliso 9:191--192 (1978), and that Thorne's statement therein that "Several monographers have kindly consented to make necessary combinations in genera they have been studying, Gary Wallace for Comarostaphylis..." is sufficient to cite Wallace as the publishing author. [Therefore, author citation correct as indicated in this Index, 15 Aug 2007.]
