Valeriana dioica L.
VALERIANACEAE
Initial Editorial Analysis 25 May 2011
Source of Report for California Fernald, M.L. 1950. Gray's Manual of Botany, 8th ed. Amer. Book Co., New York, as cited in Kartesz & Meacham
Initial Editorial Comments in no way mentioned in Munz, Munz Supplement, The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 22 Nov 2004 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Fred Barrie (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Author), in a 16 Nov 2004 e-mail, referring to Valeriana dioica, states: "I have seen several California specimens annotated with this name, all incorrectly. I would be surprised if it occurred as far south as California."
Correspondence 2 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Abigail J. Moore see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 does not address Valeriana dioica L., consistent with the position of Barrie [who was thought to be the author of the genus for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] at the time] in Correspondence 1 that the taxon does not occur in CA.
