Correspondence 2 states that, "It would appear that the correct name for the plant currently treated in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] as Trifolium olivescens [olivaceum] is Trifolium columbinum. Greene published both on the same page of Pittonia in 1887. Jepson (1901), in A Flora of Western Middle California, merged the two, publishing the combination Trifolium columbinum var. olivaceum. In 1925 Jepson reversed himself and published the combination Trifolium olivaceum var, [var.] columbinum. Hoover (1970) pointed out this error, but it has persisted: 'Jepson in 1901 first included T. columbinum and T. olivaceum Greene in one species under the former name. The subsequent use of the name T. olivaceum for the inclusive species is therefore incorrect.' ICN 11.5 is clear on this." [Therefore, Trifolium olivaceum Greene considered to be incorrect; Current Status corrected to Jepson Flora Project-1b, from Jepson Flora Project-1 (accepted name for taxon native to CA) previously in this Index, 22 Jan 2019.]
