Correspondence 1 indicates: that Spiraea splendens was published in Monatsschrift des Vereines zur Beforderung des Gartenbaues in den Koniglich Preussischen Staaten fur Gartnerei und Pflanzenkunde 18:294 (1875); that the name was presented with a description by "Herr Professor Koch", referring to Karl Heinrich Emil Koch (K. Koch in Authors of Plant Names); that Koch ascribed only the name to Herr Napoleon Baumann, who treated it as only provisional; that there is no further information in the publication to distinguish which of the two Napoleon Baumann names in Authors of Plant Names is being reference; and that, since TROPICOS and International Plant Names Index cite "Baumann" (for Constantin Auguste Napoléon Baumann), Greenhouse thinks we should use the citation Baumann ex K. Koch. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Spiraea splendens Baumann ex K. Koch, from Spiraea splendens E. N. Baumann previously in this Index, 12 Sep 2008.]
