Correspondence 1 indicates that Salix ligulifolia was validly published by Camillo Schneider (C. K. Schneid. in Authors of Plant Names) in Journal of the Arnold Arboretum 2:186, 188--189 (1922); that Schneider did not indicate therein a basionym, ascribing the name to "Ball, in litt." and providing his own Latin diagnosis as part of the key at the beginning of his article. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Salix ligulifolia C. R. Ball ex C. K. Schneid., from Salix ligulifolia (C. R. Ball) C. R. Ball previously in this Index, 3 Mar 2005.]
