Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 24 Sep 2007 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Rosa multiflora was published by Murray in Systema Vegetabilium. Editio decima quarta 474. [July] 1784, that Murray indicated that the Latin description was from a manuscript of Thunberg's (Thunb. in Authors of Plant Names) Flora Japonica ("Thunb. jap. mspt."), which wasn't published until Aug. 1784, and that a comparison of the descriptions in the two publications confirms that Thunberg is the author of both. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Rosa multiflora Thunb., from Rosa multiflora Thunb. ex Murray previously in this Index, 9 Oct 2007.]
Correspondence 2 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Barbara Ertter see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Rosa multiflora Thunb. is to be recognized and treated as naturalized in CA.
