Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)

Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments author citation uncertain, (Nutt. ex Hook.) A. Gray according to Kartesz & Meacham
Editorial Recommendation author citation to be checked [resolved]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 6 Feb 2008 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Plagiobothrys tenellus was published by A. Gray in Proceedings of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences 20: 283 (1885), based on Myosotis tenella published by William Jackson Hooker (Hook. in Authors of Plant Names) in Hooker's Journal of Botany and Kew Garden Miscellany 3: 295 (1851), wherein Hooker ascribed the name to "Nutt. MS." but supplied his own short description. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Plagiobothrys tenellus (Nutt. ex Hook.) A. Gray, from Plagiobothrys tenellus (Nutt.) A. Gray previously in this Index, 7 Feb 2008.]
