Correspondence 1 indicates, citing Taxon 39:328--330 (1990), that the situation is very complicated with respect to the correct author citation for Lemna minima, involving a misspelling, one or more invalid publications, illegitimate later homonyms, and possibly misidentified types, although it is apparent that the name by Hegelm., published in 1896, is an illegitimate later homonym for which the full author citation would be Lemna minima Phil. ex Hegelm., illeg. hom..
