Correspondence 1 indicates that Peter Zika, The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] author [of Juncus], uses the spelling Juncus lescurii and considers Juncus lesueurii to be an orthographic variant, and that the issues was addressed by Lint (Lint, H. L. 1977. A revision of Juncus subgenus Genuini (Juncaceae) in the Pacific States. Unpublished PhD thesis, Oregon State University, Corvallis), who stated that the epithet lescurii was published by Bolander in 1862 as "leseurii", although indexed "lesueurii," and that both are typographical errors for the latinized version of Leo Lesquereaux, corrected under Article 73 of the ICBN [which ICBN evidently not indicated by Lint] to lescurii, which is how Bolander spelled the epithet in his 1870 catalogue of plants in the San Francisco area. [Therefore, spelling of epithet corrected to "lescurii", from "lesueurii" previously in this Index, 13 Nov 2006.]
