Correspondence 1 indicates Eleocharis radicans was published by Karl Kunth (Kunth in Authors of Plant Names) in Enumeratio Plantarum Omnium Hucusque Cognitarum 2: 142 (1837), based on Scirpus radicans Poir. (Encyclopédie Méthodique, Botanique 6: 751. 1805), and that Kunth excluded Eleogeton radicans A. Dietr as a synonym, which might explain why A. Dietr. mistakenly appears in some citations for the epithet radicans. [Therefore, author citation correct as indicated in this Index, 17 Aug 2007; author citation of The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] synonym corrected to Eleocharis acicularis (L.) Roem. & Schult. var. radicans (Poir.) Britton, from Eleocharis acicularis (L.) Roem. & Schult. var. radicans (A. Dietr.) Britton previously in this Index, 17 Aug 2007 .]
