Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 29 Nov 2006, from Editor of this Index and author of treatment of Apocynaceae for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Conditions of cited occurrence, as implied by "re-landscaped" (Source e), do not qualify for inclusion in the flora according to criteria employed by Jepson Flora Project (29 Nov 2003), whether the plants involved re-appear or not; according to Kartesz & Gandhi (Phytologia 71:270. 1991), Cynanchum nigrum (L.) Pers. is a later homonym of C. nigrum Cav. and therefore illegitimate, although Vincetoxicum nigrum (L.) Moench. is to be used if Vincetoxicum is recognized as a distinct genus; as Vincetoxicum nigrum, four records in the Consortium of California Herbaria Database, all from UCR Botanic Garden.
