Correspondence 2 includes reference to a paper (Burge & Zhukovsky 2013 Syst. Bot. 38(2)406-417) in which multivariate morphometrics were used to support the conclusion that Ceanothus pauciflorus (Sessé & Moc.) DC. (1825) and Ceanothus vestitus Greene (1890) are conspecific, so that the taxa should be combined, under which taxonomy the species would be called by the earlier name, Ceanothus pauciflorus (Sessé & Moc.) DC.
