Correspondence 1 indicates: that Guillenia lemmonii (Greene) R. E. Buck is ined.; that Ihsan Al-Shehbaz (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] family editor), in a 10/27/00 e-mail to Beth Painter, concluded that what was treated as Guillenia lemmonii (Greene) R. E. Buck in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] belongs instead in Caulanthus, in which genus it should be called Caulanthus anceps (Greene) Payson (Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 9:303. 1923) because the specific epithet lemmonii was already in use for a different plant [Caulanthus lemmonii S. Watson, Proc. Amer. Acad. Arts 23: 261. 1888, recognized by Al-Shehbaz as a species distinct from Caulanthus coulteri and present in CA].

Editorial Comments 2

Correspondence 2 indicates that according to Al-Shehbaz: Streptanthus lemmonii S. Watson 1890 is based on a type specimen that probably was collected in CA, not in the Santa Catalina Mountains of AZ as indicated on the type specimen collected by Lemmon, and is a synonym of Streptanthus tortuosus Kellogg; and that when Caulanthus lemmonii S. Watson, a different plant, was transferred to Streptanthus by Jepson, an illegitimate, later homonym was created, properly cited as Streptanthus lemmonii Jepson 1920, non S. Watson 1890, and not as Streptanthus lemmonii (S. Watson) Jepson.
