Editorial Comments 1
Correspondence 1 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Calandrinia ciliata (Ruiz & Pav.) DC. is to be recognized and treated as native to CA.
Correspondence 2
3 Mar 2010 e-mail from Mark Hershkovitz see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2
Correspondence 2 indicates that genetic evidence supports segregation of Calandrinia menziesii (Hook.) Torr. & A. Gray (w US, introduced elsewhere). [Therefore, a note to this effect added to treatment 26 May 2010; update of 3 Sep 2014: this note evidently was deleted at some point because it does not appear in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] or the Jepson eFlora.]

Editorial Comments 3
Correspondence 3 indicates: that Mark Hershkovitz presented data in 2006 (Gayana Bot 63:13--74) that show that what has been called Calandrinia ciliata (Ruiz & Pav.) DC in western North America is phylogenetically distinct (although not very morphologically distinct) from Calandrinia ciliata in Central and South America, where the type for the name was collected; that whereas the North American plants are sister to Calandrinia breweri S. Watson of California and northern Baja CA, samples of Calandrinia ciliata from Central and South America are sister to Calandrinia compressa Schrad. ex DC., also of Central and South America; and that Calandrinia menziesii (Hook.) Torr. & A.Gray is available and should be used for the North American plants.
