Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Atriplex dioica is among names returned in a search of Flora North America for taxa reported for California currently not found in this Index. [In Flora North America 4:323, "The name Atriplex dioica Rafinesque antedates Chenopodium subspicatum Nuttall by half a year, being published in December 1817. Hence, it is the correct name for the widely ranging species..." [Therefore, the correct name for this species is Atriplex dioica Raf., and Atriplex subspicata (Nutt.) Rydb. is illegitimate, pending review by The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] author.]
