Correspondence 1 indicates that Dale McNeal, in a 17 Oct 2006 e-mail, confirmed that Allium fimbriatum var. parryi (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]1 synonym of Allium parryi) has not been validly published and that Allium fimbriatum subsp. parryi is the correct synonym, having been published by Hamilton Traub (Traub in Authors of Plant Names) in Plant Life 23:110 (1967), who ascribed the combination to "Traub & Ownbey". [Therefore, The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] synonym Allium fimbriatum S. Watson var. parryi (S. Watson) Ownbey & Aase corrected to Allium fimbriatum S. Watson var. parryi (S. Watson) Ownbey & Aase ined., and Allium fimbriatum S. Watson subsp. parryi (S. Watson) Traub & Ownbey added, 17 Oct 2006, the latter based in part on Article 46.2 of ICBN (2000), which states "...authorship of a new name or combination must always be accepted as ascribed, even when it differs from authorship of the publication, when at least one author is common to both."]
