Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 | 8 Feb 2007 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that in Flora North America Wyethia elata H. M. Hall is treated as Agnorhiza elata (H.M. Hall) W. A. Weber.
Correspondence 2 | 8 Feb 2007 e-mail from Abbey Moore see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 indicates that, in their molecular and morphological work, Abbey Moore and Lynn Bohs did not find Agnorhiza to be monophyletic, rather that it formed a grade with Wyethia s.s. nested within it; that they did not make any taxonomic changes, thinking it best not to change the existing classification without having reasonable confidence that the changed version would better reflect the relationships of the plants; and that if someone did want to change the existing classification, Balsamorhiza and Wyethia could be combined, under the name Wyethia. [Therefore, is is most appropriate to retain this taxon within Wyethia at this time, pending a final decision by the author of the group for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2].]
Correspondence 3 | 7 Mar 2007 e-mail from David J. Keil see Comment 3
Editorial Comments 3 | Correspondence 3 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] David J. Keil (Author of genus for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2]) will retain this taxon in Wyethia, based primarily on the work of Moore & Bohs (see Editorial Comments 1), and that although Balsamorhiza probably should be included in Wyethia, the combinations have not been made, so that Wyethia minus Balsamorhiza will be kept as a paraphyletic taxon with comments to that effect appended to both genera.
