| Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 indicates: that Pritchardia filifera was published by Éduard André (André in Authors of Plant Names) in L'Illustration Horticole 24:32--34 (1877); that André ascribed the name to J. Linden (Linden in Authors of Plant Names) but supplied the description himself; that Pritchardia filifera Linden ex André is the basionym of Washingtonia filifera, a combination published in Botanische Zeitung (Berlin), Vol. 37:LXI (1879); that Hermann Wendland (H. Wendl. in Authors of Plant Names), in an article in Botanische Zeitung (Berlin) Vol. 37, proposed the new genus Washingtonia for what was then known as Pritchardia filifera, although he didn't actually make the combination in Washingtonia; and that the combination in Washingtonia actually was made by the editor of the journal, Heinrich Anton de Bary (de Bary in Authors of Plant Names), in column LXI in the index for volume 37 [thereby, in effect, ascribing the name to H. Wendl.]. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Washingtonia filifera (Linden ex André) H. Wendl. ex de Bary, from Washingtonia filifera (L. Linden) H.
