Keil (Author of genus for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2]) is recognizing Bahiopsis as distinct from Viguiera, and that Viguiera (s.s.) does not occur in CA, providing the following synonymy: Bahiopsis laciniata (A. Gray) E. E. Schilling & Panero for Viguiera laciniata A. Gray; Bahiopsis parishii (Greene) E. E. Schilling & Panero for Viguiera parishii Greene and Viguiera deltoidea A. Gray var. parishii (Greene) Vasey & Rose; and Bahiopsis reticulata (S. Watson) E. E. Schilling & Panero for Viguiera reticulata S. Watson. Correspondence 1 also indicates that Bahiopsis tomentosa (A. Gray) E. E. Schilling & Panero (not included in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]; otherwise known from Baja California Sur) was collected twice in San Diego Co. in the early 1900's (San Diego, 14 Apr 1906, M.E. Jones s.n., POM, slope near La Jolla, 300 ft.; Sep 1919, M.E.Spencer 1644, POM), probably as escape from cultivation (according to 1933 annotation by SF Blake, with reference to Zoe 5:260), and that the status of Viguiera purisimae Brandegee, reported from San Diego Co., is unresolved. | |||||
