Tillandsia usneoides (L.) L.
BROMELIACEAE
Initial Editorial Analysis 24 Feb 2009
Source of Report for California Correspondence 1
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 17 Jan 2008 e-mail from Andrew Sanders see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that, according to Andrew Sanders, Tillandsia usneoides (L.) L. is naturalized and well established, in Franklin Canyon [in the Santa Monica/Santa Susana Mtns area], and will not be easily eradicated there; that the more mature plants all had shattered capsules and clearly had released seeds in the previous year; that the plants might have been so established for ten or more years; and that the plants number in the low hundreds.
Correspondence 2 9 Feb 2008 e-mail from Bruce G. Baldwin, including forwarded e-mail of 8 Feb from Arthur Gibson see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 confirms that, according to Art Gibson, Tillandsia usneoides is naturalized in a 200-meter stretch along paved road in Franklin Canyon in the Santa Monica/Santa Susana Mtns area.
Correspondence 3 24 Feb 2009 e-mail to Bruce G. Baldwin from Arthur Gibson see Comment 3
Editorial Comments 3 Correspondence 3 indicates that, according to Art Gibson, the Tillandsia he reported previously was evidently introduced for a movie shoot in Franklin Canyon and is now almost all completely dead, so that it should not be included in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2].
