Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 10 Apr 2003 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates: that Thorne, Prigge, and Henderson (Aliso 10:140. 1981) reported the occurrence of this species in the New York Mtns. of eastern San Bernardino Co; that 5 vouchers are at RSA; and that, therefore, DMtns (New York Mtns) is to be added to the geographic range given in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1], and the lower end of elevation range given in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] is to be extended to 2100 m.
Correspondence 2 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Steve Boyd see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates: that Congdonia pinetorum (Brandegee) Jeps. and Sedum pinetorum Brandegee are synonyms; that in the Crassulaceae book edited by Eggli (2003), a description is given for Sedum pinetorum (pgs 307-307) even though it is also stated that this taxon is "probably identical with" Sedum niveum; and, therefore, that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Sedum niveum is to be treated as native to CA, with Sedum pinetorum Brandegee and Congdonia pinetorum (Brandegee) Jeps. to be treated as syns, and with a note indicating that additional research is necessary to determine whether or not Sedum pinetorum is distinct from Sedum niveum, and if so, at what taxonomic level.
