Surv. 6: 84 (1878), and that Rothrock ascribed the name to "Benth. & Hook." (Benth. & Hook. f. in Authors of Plant Names) but provided his own short description. Cambridge, MA) says 1880, Vol. 1 was published May-June of 1876 according to International Plant Names Index-Gray Card Index], clearly earlier than Rothrock in 1878 [Wheeler's Rept. U.S. Geogr. Surv. 6: 84. 1878], and that although W. H. Brewer & S. Watson ascribed the name to "Benth. & Hook.", they provided their own description.
