Initial Editorial Comments | indicated for California in Flora North America treatment by Harold R. Hinds, Craig C. Freeman, wherein it is stated, "R. S. Mitchell and J. K. Dean (1978) and H. R. Hinds (2000) recognized var. amphibia, the Eurasian element, as introduced in New York and New Brunswick, respectively. These plants are morphologically intermediate between the North American ecotypes and often indistinguishable from North American plants (Mitchell and Dean).". Correspondence 1 | Treatment submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Mihai Costea see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that Polygonum amphibium L. is to be treated as Persicaria amphibia (L.) A. Gray in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2].
Correspondence 2 | 27 Aug 2012 e-mail from Dave Keil see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 indicates that the correct author citation is Persicaria amphibia (L.) Gray, not Persicaria amphibia (L.) A. Gray. [According to International Plant Names Index-Index Kewensis, it is in fact Persicaria amphibia (L.) Gray (Nat. Arr. Brit. Pl. 2: 268. 1821; A. Gray (Asa Gray) would have been about 11 years old at the time), but it is Persicaria amphibia (L.) Delarbre (Fl. Auvergne (Delarbre) ed. 2. : 519. 1800) according to IPNI-Gray Card Index. In fact, the combination Persicaria amphibia was made correctly, in 1800, by Delarbre, who cited "Polygonum amphibium. Linn." as basionym. Therefore, author citation corrected to Persicaria amphibia (L.) Delarbre, from Persicaria amphibia (L.) A. Gray previously in this Index, 27 Aug 2012; corresponding changes made to Current Jepson Flora Project synonyms on 11 Jun 2015.]
