Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Robert E. Preston see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Oxalis albicans Kunth subsp. pilosa (Nutt.) Eiten is to be treated as a synonym of Oxalis corniculata L. subsp. pilosa (Small) Lourteig. [So that what had been treated in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] as Oxalis corniculata L. (naturalized) is to be treated for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] as Oxalis corniculata L. subsp. corniculata (naturalized). However, in keeping with the idea that a taxon is assigned a Current Status Category representing the "highest" status has attained in the state (native is highest, naturalized second highest, waif/garden escape third highest, etc.), a Current Status of Jepson Flora Project-1 is most appropriate for the species at this time, since it now includes Oxalis corniculata L. subsp. pilosa (Small) Lourteig, which is native to CA.]
Correspondence 2 15 Jan 2010 e-mail from Rob Preston see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Oxalis corniculata L. is to be recognized and treated as naturalized in CA, with no infraspecific taxa.
