| Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that Gandhi and Barkworth (Taxon 52:137--138. 2003) proposed the orthographical conservation of "Munroa" over "Monroa", in an attempt to avoid possible controversy as to whether the spelling discrepancy can be treated as a correctible error and in order to preserve the general usage of Munroa: Torrey (Pacif. Railr. Rep. 4 pt. 5, no. 4:158. 1857) published the name as "Monroa" after "Major Monro", although the honoree spelled his name "Munro" and the genus has been spelled "Munroa" almost universally since it was changed [to Munroa] by Bentham and Hooker f. in 1883.
