Leptospermum laevigatum (Gaertn.) F. Muell.
MYRTACEAE
·

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments epithet spelled "laevigata" in Kartesz & Meacham, for reasons unknown
Variant Spelling Leptospermum laevigata
Editorial Recommendation spelling of epithet to be checked [resolved]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 1 Aug 2008 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates: that Leptospermum laevigatum is the correct spelling of the epithet, since the genus name is neuter, and therefore requires the neuter ending for the adjective laevigatum; that the epithet is spelled laevigatum in Version 2.0 of the Kartesz & Meacham Synthesis; and that it was apparently corrected from the earlier version, which is likely the original source for the variant spelling. [Therefore, spelling of epithet correct as indicated in this Index, 12 Sep 2008.]
