Kallstroemia parviflora Norton

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis 11 Dec 2013
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 19 Nov 2013 e-mail from Jim Andre, including forwarded e-mail from Tom Chester, Aaron Sims, and others see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 comprises agreement among Jim Andre, Tom Chester, and Aaron Sims that Kallstroemia parviflora Norton should be treated as native to rather than naturalized in CA, not only near the New York Mountains (DMoj), where the occupied habitats are pristine and localities are not obviously disjunct from putatively native parts of the species range in NV and AZ, but in San Diego Co. as well (PR), where this monsoonal species occupies pristine areas that include monsoonal natives but not monsoonal aliens, and where the species is found abundantly only in clearly defined ecological conditions; several other lines of evidence are discussed that also support treatment of Kallstroemia parviflora Norton as native, and according to Aaron Sims, the species is being reviewed for possible addition to "rank 2 (rare in CA, more common elsewhere)" of the California NATIVE Plant Society's Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants of CA. [Therefore, Current Status changed to Jepson Flora Project-1, from Jepson Flora Project-2 previously in this Index, 11 Dec 2013.]
