Aiton (Hortus Kewensis, ed. 2, 4:82--83. 1812) is illegitimate; that Aiton included Iberis rotundifolia, the type of the earlier legitimate genus name, Noccaea Moench (Supplementum ad Methodum Plantas a Staminum situ Describendi 89. 1802); that although Hutchinsia procumbens (L.) Desv. is illegitimate, Art. 55.1 states that "A name of a species or subdivision of a genus may be legitimate even if its epithet was originally placed under an illegitimate generic name", meaning that the epithet "procumbens" may be used in another combination, under another genus; and that according to Ihsan Al-Shehbaz (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] author for Brassicaceae) the name Hornungia procumbens (L.) Hayek should be used for this taxon. | |||||
