Initial Editorial Analysis 11 Apr 2005
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 8 Apr 2005 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Guy Nesom (The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Author; G.L. Nesom in Authors of Plant Names), in SIDA 21:781--783 (2004), recognized the four subspecies of Pseudognaphalium canescens occurring in California as separate species and published the new combination Pseudognaphalium thermale (E. E. Nelson) G. L. Nesom to accommodate his taxonomy. Thus, Pseudognaphalium canescens subsp. thermale is to be treated as Pseudognaphalium thermale (E. E. Nelson) G. L. Nesom; Pseudognaphalium canescens subsp. beneolens [Gnaphalium canescens DC. subsp. beneolens (Davidson) Stebbins & D. J. Keil ] as Pseudognaphalium beneolens (Davidson) Anderb.; Pseudognaphalium canescens subsp. microcephalum as Pseudognaphalium microcephalum (Nutt.) Anderb.; and Pseudognaphalium canescens subsp. canescens as a synonym of Pseudognaphalium canescens.
