Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that, based on molecular, karyological and morphological data [Liede & Meve, Nord. J. Bot. 22(5):589, 2002 (2003). Dissolution of Cynanchum sect. Macbridea (Apocynaceae - Asclepiadoideae)], and as a consequence of the recently established polyphyly of American Cynanchum [Liede & Tauber, 2002, Syst. Bot. 27:789-800], it has been concluded that the former section Macbridea is to be dissolved, with 3 of the 5 spp., Cynanchum angustifolium [s US, Mexico, Caribbean], Cynanchum peninsulare [Baja California], and Cynanchum utahense [sw US, including CA] being transferred to Funastrum (as Funastrum angustifolium, Funastrum peninsulare, and and Funastrum utahense), and with 2 spp., Cynanchum grisebachii and Cynanchum wrightianum [both endemic to Cuba], of uncertain disposition and in need of further study.
