Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis 26 Aug 04
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 25 Aug 04 e-mail from Staci Marcos, including forwarded 15 Jul 04 e-mail from Jim Morefield, in part see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Jim Morefield (author of this group for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]) will split Filago into two more natural genera for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2], so that only Filago pyramidata var. pyramidata will remain in the genus Filago, and all other species treated under Filago in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] will be treated as the genus Oglifa.
Correspondence 2 25 Aug 04 e-mail from Staci Marcos, including forwarded 25 Aug 04 e-mail from Jim Morefield see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that Jim Morefield (author of Logfia for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2]), in the interests of preserving current usage [and thus contributing to nomenclatural stability], will continue to use the genus name Logfia, and to proposed it for conservation against the genus name Oglifa, even though the latter might have been published earlier, and thus have nomenclatural priority. [Therefore, Filago depressa is to be treated as Logfia depressa (A. Gray) Holub]
