Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments author citation uncertain, (D. Don) Endl. ex Torr. in Kartesz & Meacham
Editorial Recommendation author citation to be checked [resolved]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 17 May 2007 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates: that Fallugia paradoxa was published by John Torrey (Torr. in Authors of Plant Names) in Emory, W.H., Notes of a Military Reconnoissance 140 (1848), based on Sieversia paradoxa D. Don (Transactions of the Linnean Society of London 14: 576, pl. 22, f. 7-10. 1825); that Torrey credited "Endl. gen. 6385" with the name but supplied his own description; and that Endlicher (in Genera Plantarum 1246. 1836) listed the basionym under the genus Fallugia but failed to make the combination in Fallugia. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Fallugia paradoxa (D. Don) Endl. ex Torr., from Fallugia paradoxa (D. Don) Endl. previously in this Index, 17 May 2007.]
