Emory, Notes of a Military Reconnoissance 143 (1848), wherein Torrey ascribed the name to "Gray ined." but provided his own description. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Encelia farinosa A. Gray ex Torr., from Encelia farinosa Torr. & A. Gray previously in this Index, 24 Aug 2005.]
