Current Jepson Flora Project Synonyms Mimulus aurantiacus Curtis var. grandiflorus (Lindl. & Paxton) D.M. Thomps.; Diplacus glutinosus Nutt. var. grandiflorus Lindl. & Paxton; Diplacus grandiflorus Greene, illeg.; Mimulus bifidus Pennell
Initial Editorial Analysis 28 Feb 2017
Notes on Publication of Name Pittonia 2: 156. 1890
Source of Report for California Munz, P.A. in collaboration with D. D. Keck. 1968, as cited in Kartesz & Meacham
Initial Editorial Comments treated as synonym of Mimulus bifidus in Munz; Mimulus bifidus Pennell indicated in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] as one of "the most distinct" of "many, intergrading, hybridizing, local forms", that is, a minor variant of Mimulus aurantiacus; if recognized, would stay in Mimulus pending decision of contributor
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 8 Mar 2006 e-mail from Jeffrey A. Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Diplacus grandiflorus was published by J. Groenland (Groenl. in Authors of Plant Names) in Revue Horticole, sér. 4, 6: 402. 1857, wherein Groenland did not cite a basionym. [Therefore, author citation corrected to Diplacus grandiflorus Groenl., from Diplacus grandiflorus (Lindl.) Groenl. previously in this Index, 8 Mar 2006. Therefore, also it is probable that the correct author citation for the Current Name is instead Mimulus aurantiacus Curtis var. grandiflorus (Groenl.) D.M. Thomps.]
Correspondence 2 Treatment and author notes submitted since The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that since The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Mimulus aurantiacus Curtis var. grandiflorus (Lindl. & Paxton) D. M. Thomps. is to be treated as Diplacus grandiflorus Groenl..
