Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 [for Helianthemum greenei B. L. Rob.] 1 Dec 2004 e-mail from Misa Ward see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence appended verbatim is pertinent to The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] account: "Known from fewer than twenty occurrences. Last collected on SRO Isl. in 1930's; need historical quads. Last collected on SMI Isl. in 1939; need locality information. Threatened by feral herbivores on SCZ Isl.; recovering on SCT Isl., and increasing on SCZ Isl. after reduction of feral sheep population. Also threatened by altered fire regimes. Hybridizes with H. scoparium."
Correspondence 2 13 Jul 2012 e-mail from Richard Moe see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 includes reference to a paper (Sorrie 2011 Phytologia 93:270-271) in which it is stated that molecular and morphological analyses of the Cistaceae (Arrington 2004, Systematics of the Cistaceae. Ph.D. thesis, Duke University, Durham, North Carolina.) indicate that Helianthemum (Tourn.) P. Mill. as [then] circumscribed is polyphyletic and that all New World taxa are better placed in Crocanthemum Spach., and in which the combinations for California taxa in Crocanthemum are made, including Crocanthemum greenei (B.L. Robins.) Sorrie.
