Correspondence 1 28 Jun 2013 e-mail from David J. Keil see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that, as in the correction of Croton setigerus to Croton setiger, "setigerus" should be changed to "setiger" in this name as well, because it appears to involve the more proper termination according to the rules of Latin grammar, and there are provisions in the Code (Art. 32.7, ICBN, Vienna Code) for correcting such improper [or, evidently, less proper] terminations. [Based on other epithets in the genus, it appears that Cordylanthus is treated as masculine, indicating that "setiger" is correct. Therefore, spelling of epithet corrected to "setiger", from "setigerus" previously in this Index, 31 Oct 2013. Furthermore, according to Stearn's Botanical Latin (p. 93), the epithet would be "setigera" for a feminine genus, and "setigerum" for a neuter genus, so "setigerus" would in no case be correct.]
