Correspondence 1 | Jun 2000 pers. comm. from John L. Strother see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 | Correspondence 1 indicates that this is no longer in Chrysanthemum, and that correct generic name is possibly unknown, with reference to Taxon 47: 443. 1998.
Correspondence 2 | 6 Feb 2006 Interchange Feedback from David J. Keil see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 indicates that, according to Dave Keil (Family Editor of Asteraceae and Author of Chrysanthemum [as treated in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]] for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2]), in 1998 the genus name Chrysanthemum was conserved with a different type to preserve its usage for the garden chrysanthemum (which had been placed in Dendranthema when Chrysanthemum was broken up), so that taxa treated in Chrysanthemum in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] 1 must and will have different names in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2]: Chrysanthemum coronarium L. = Glebionis coronaria (L.) Spach; Chrysanthemum segetum L. = Glebionis segetum (L.) Fourr.; and Chrysanthemum carinatum Schousboe = Ismelia carinata (Schousboe) Sch. Bip. (Ismelia is monotypic). Correspondence 2 also indicates that Turland (Taxon 53: 1072-1074. 2004), in a proposal to conserve the name Chrysanthemum coronarium L. with a different type, recognized varieties in Glebionis coronaria: Glebionis coronaria (L.) Spach var. coronaria for yellow-rayed plants and Glebionis coronaria (L.) Spach var. discolor (d'Urv.) Turland for white-rayed plants, and that although Turland's conservation proposal was accepted (Taxon 54: 1101. 2005), Keil will not recognize the varieties in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] as they occur in mixed populations in California as well as in the Mediterranean region [where the plants are native].
