·

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Synonyms Cited in The Jepson Manual Euphorbia melanadenia Torr.
Initial Editorial Analysis 4 Dec 2012
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments Regarding the basionym, Euphorbia melanadenia, despite citation of "E. melanadenia Torr. & A. Gray" in for example Yang et al. [Molecular phylogenetics and classification of Euphorbia subgenus Chamaesyce (Euphorbiaceae), Taxon 61(4):764–789, 2012], in fact Euphorbia melanadenia was published by Torrey alone ("Professor John Torrey" alone is indicated on title page), in Pacif. Railr. Rep. 4(5, no. 4):135, 1857, whereat no attribution to anyone else is indicated, so that the author citation is correct as indicated in this Index.
