·

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis 1 Mar 2004
Notes on Publication of Name Bull. S. Calif. Acad. Sci. 31: 66. 1932
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments author citation uncertain, Astragalus pycnostachyus var. lanosissimus (Rydb.) Munz & J. McBurney (short for Munz & J. McBurney in Munz) according to Wilken ("(Rydberg) and McBurney", inadvertently) in e-mail of 30 Sep 2000 to Margriet et al.; "PRESUMED EXTINCT (last seen 1967)...Habitat lost to urbanization" in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1].
Editorial Recommendation author citation to be checked [resolved]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 7 Jul 2003 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Munz, in the protologue, ascribes the new combination to Munz & McBurney (both = Authors of Plant Names), and that Art. 46.2 of ICBN 2000 (St. Louis Code) requires the author citation to reflect such ascription because the authorship of the article and the ascription have a name in common, so that the correct author citation is (Rydb.) Munz & McBurney. [Author citation corrected to Astragalus pycnostachyus A. Gray var. lanosissimus (Rydb.) Munz & McBurney, from Astragalus pycnostachyus A. Gray var. lanosissimus (Rydb.) Munz originally in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] and this Index, 8 Jul 2003.]
Correspondence 2 3 Feb 2004 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that this var. was rediscovered in 1997 in Oxnard, Ventura Co., and that vouchers are deposited at SBBG
